Time flies!
So for the other parts of our project, we had fun trying out peachtree, our chosen software! MYOB was already being used by the company, and quickbook is like a step backward, so peachtree seemed like the right choice. PLUS, we liked the name, and after doing the hands on online, we liked it even more! (cuz of the cute icons haha!)
YUP! the icons are REALLY cute! But cuz we chose not to dl the free version but to do it online, it was really really lagggggyyyyyy. and the funny thing was, this guy emailed me after that, (cuz i used my email to register the free trial) and saying he's our account manager and offering his services. So we decided to ask him some qns to know abt peachtree! but he didn't reply how disappointing!
But anyway, we spent one afternoon, learning about peachtree pro accounting 2009 (we chose tt to fit the size and requirements and cost of the company), and we DID WHAT MARILYN LOVES BEST, to printscreen our hands on effort and paste in our report! (together with the cropping of course!) wahhahaa.
But afterward, I found out, that if you click tour features, they provide all the printscreens! Felt so cheated. haha. but okay luh, at least our work is like original.
So that was pretty much it. Submission day was me and Jeryl again, and me putting it in the box again. haha! felt like time was repeating itself again. but met manfred and estee at s3, and we walked like one whole round trying to find where's room s3-b2a-40. cuz apparently, u walk down the row, u see all the numbers in one row, but the door numbers skipped over 40! So we walked one whole round in search of it.
BUT YAY! project over at last!
AND today was the excel quiz which wasnt as difficult as i thought it would be. (i thought i wouldnt be able to do it at all haha!) except that i didnt do vlookup!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
and with the end of today, it ended our last IT lesson with ms chia! time flies huh. it seems like ac213 is not as terrifying and horrifying as ab113.... but i think i shldnt say this too soon, till uh results come out haha. but seriously ab113 was a horror. but i really think i'm really blessed to have ms chia as our tutor! really rare to find a tutor who's nice, friendly, caring, who knows her stuff and teach as well. (yes marilyn, the teaching factor is vERY impt! hahaha) so if ms chia, u ever read this again, i'd like to say a great big THANK YOU! for being a great tutor :) hopefully we'll all do well for ac213. not A+, but A or A- i'll be over the moon already haha. but that still doesnt stop me from thinking IT is impossibleeeee.
ONE MORE WEEK FOLKS!
let's keep the oil tank filled in the engine and mUG!

PROJECT SUBMISSION!
WE SUBMITTED IT!
After completing all the parts, not a single one of us expected we'll take so long to actually put everything together, and print. (the coloured flowcharts especially!)
On Thursday, we started our meeting at 3pm, and guess what! It was one of those productive meetings where every moment is actually spent doing something useful. BUT WE ONLY FINISHED AT LIKE 10PM!
Yes, 10pm! SEVEN HOURS! (We went without dinner!) Just to put everything together and edit a million times (such that everyone was sick of reading it, and refused to do it anymore haha) It was pretty fun to choose the colours for the flowchart tho!
YAY KUDOS TO US!
Here, is our final product.

Where we decided to package our project differently in the form of hmmm something like a software package? Although not really alot of link. haha. Amazingly, the picture that I asked jeryl to click on turned out to be a cd box saying 'security software!' how apt.
But the box was quite big and bulky and took up quite some space in the submission box. Apparently, it drew alot of attention. Unwanted I would say, cuz my fren msged me saying why did our group spoil market. Like HUH? Our names were inside, and the box was scotchtaped. YOU MEAN SOME PPL WENT TO OPEN IT!
How rude :(
OKAY, I am rambling on and on.
Time to study for ac213 quiz this week.
It's only the end of PART ONE!
WE STILL HAVE 3 MORE TO GO!
So press on! 3 weeks to go :)
hearts,
jocelyn

future CPAs in the making
We requested to have a job shadowing session with Enhance Security and they agreed!
So we made another trip down to the company and 'job shadowed' Aunty Jean (the Accounts and Admin executive for about two hours)
She carefully showed us how the quotations were prepared and how invoices were generated. We also had some hands on experience such as typing in quotations (of course with much of her supervision!)
it was enriching!
we all feel inspired to be outstanding CPAs now haha :)

photos :)
cupboard full of files just outside the CEO's office
all prepared for the interview!!
computer at the main office!
telephone numbers of guards
walkie talkies!!
We had another interview with former operations manager, Mr. Kenneth Chan just over the last weekend.
He provided us with more details and technicalities of the company as well as a more in depth description of the processes of the company
We also interviewed the company's accountant, also known as Ms. Jane to gather more feedback about the IT softwares and precautions that the company is currently using.
And armed with so much information, we finally came up with our flowchart! :D

happy start!
YAY we have finally started on our project!
Last thursday, we headed down to Enhance Security Services to gather more information from the CEO himself, Mr. Patrick Chan!
It was quite an experience and we realised that alot has to be done as the company basically adopts a more manual system approach.
Mr Chan also shared with us his fair share of experiences in this line of business and it was very enlightening.
Now now, i might just reconsider setting up my own business in the future!
Okay back to more hard work!!
